Message: The Right Side

John 21:1-11 

V5 "Jesus" is asking…." do you have any?" No Fish….No Food.

The disciples were experienced professional fishermen from Galilee who had fished all night and caught nothing.

Ancient boats used a steering oar (the rudder) attached to the right side (the starboard or "steerboard" side).

Fishermen naturally cast from the left side to avoid tangling their nets with the steering oar and the helmsman. Fishing on the right meant doing the exact opposite of what their training and common sense dictated.

Jesus' instruction meant not leaning to their own understanding.

The "catch" they received required awkward obedience. 

Uncomfortable. Not used to "having" to do it this way!

These apparently were larger fish than before.

They caught 153 when they obeyed. When 120 obeyed and met in the upper room at Jesus' command,

3000 were added to the Church immediately. THEN 5000!

Same boat, Same net. Doing things Jesus' way makes the difference.
